Who we are

Locally Visible is run by Aroon Maharaj from 943 Park Avenue West, Burlington, Ontario L7T 1N8. We build websites for Canadian firms and run SEO + AI Visibility work for them. Aroon Maharaj is responsible for privacy at Locally Visible. You can reach him at aroon@locallyvisible.ca.

What the form collects

When you ask for a free visibility check, the form collects:

  • Your first name: so we know who to write to.
  • Your email address: to send you the report.
  • Business name, what you do and your city: so the check asks the questions your clients ask in your city.
  • Website: optional. The check reads your home page to see how it describes your business.
  • Kind of firm, main goal and yearly revenue band: the three tiles you pick, so our reply fits your firm.
  • Phone number: optional. We only text or call you if you tick the call box.
  • Call consent: whether you ticked the box. If you did, we record when you ticked it and the IP address you ticked it from.
  • How you found us: the page you were on and any campaign tags in the link you followed.

Our server also sees your IP address when you send the form. It keeps the address in memory for a short time to limit repeated sends, and saves it with your details only if you tick the call box. We do not collect payment information at the free-check stage.

How we use it

  • To run your free visibility check.
  • To email you the report. Aroon checks every report before it goes out, usually the same business day.
  • If you tick the call box, to text you when your report is ready and to book a short walkthrough call.
  • To email you about a website build or our SEO + AI Visibility program, if the check shows you are hard to find.
  • To see how people use this website.

We never sell or rent your details, and we do not use them to train AI models.

Where it goes

These are the services that run the check and help us reply to you, and what each one receives.

  • Supabase: our database and report storage, hosted in Canada (ca-central-1). It holds everything the form collects, and your report.
  • Vercel: hosts this website and runs the code that receives the form. It keeps short-lived request logs, including IP addresses.
  • Trigger.dev: runs the check. It reads your details from our database and, if you gave a website, visits it.
  • DataForSEO: puts questions about your kind of business in your city to ChatGPT and Google. It receives those questions and your city, not your name or contact details.
  • OpenAI: sorts what you do into a trade and reads each answer for the businesses it names. It receives what you do, your business name and the answers. If a question cannot reach ChatGPT through DataForSEO, OpenAI answers it instead.
  • Apify: checks Google Maps for the businesses named in the answers. It receives their names and your city.
  • Gmail (Google Workspace): sends you the report with a PDF copy attached, and first sends Aroon a summary to review.
  • Loops: sends our emails about your check. It receives your email address, business name, what you do, city, website, campaign tags, and your phone number only if you ticked the call box.
  • Zuops: our site chat and customer records. The form sends Zuops your first name, email address, business name, what you do, city, website and whether you ticked the call box, and your phone number only if you ticked it. Zuops sends the texts and makes the calls you agree to, and an automated voice assistant may make those calls.

Some of these services store or process data outside Canada.

Your report

We publish your report at a private link. The link is not listed anywhere, and search engines are told not to index it. Anyone you share the link with can open it. The report page loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees the IP address of whoever opens it.

Analytics and cookies

On locallyvisible.ca, these tools load on every page once it has finished loading:

  • Google Analytics 4: counts page views and how people move through the site. When you send the form, it also records your kind of firm, goal, what you do and city. It sets cookies. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
  • Meta Pixel: records page views and form sends, with your kind of firm or what you do, so we can measure Facebook and Instagram ads. It sets advertising cookies. You can manage Meta ads at facebook.com/adpreferences.
  • Microsoft Clarity: records heatmaps and session replays of clicks, scrolling and pointer movement so we can improve the site. It masks the form and the screen that replaces it once you send, so what you type is not recorded. It sets cookies, and Microsoft also uses the data for security and advertising.   • Zuops site chat: the chat window. What you type into it goes to Zuops.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. The free check form works without them.

How long we keep it

We keep your details while you are a prospective or current client. If we have not heard from you in 24 months, we delete your details. If you ask us to delete them, we remove them within seven business days from our database and report storage in Supabase (including your published report), from Loops and Zuops, and from our Gmail. Vercel, Trigger.dev, DataForSEO, OpenAI and Apify keep request data only for their own limited retention periods. Our code does not send your name or email address to the analytics tools.

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Email aroon@locallyvisible.ca for anything else, and we will reply within 30 days.

Quebec residents (Law 25)

Quebec's Law 25 also gives you the right to data portability and the right to be told about automated decisions. The check runs automatically, and Aroon reviews every report before we send it. If you tick the call box, an automated voice assistant may call you. For a portability request, email aroon@locallyvisible.ca.

Children

This website is for business owners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters to how we use your details, we also email the people it affects.
